PLAYERS
1. Suitable sports footwear may be worn. They shall be of lightweight material. Spikes soles are not allowed.
2. No item of jewellery, except a wedding ring and /or medical alert bracelet shall be worn. If either or both are worn, each shall be taped.
3. No adornment that may endanger player safety shall be worn.
4. Fingernails shall be short and smooth.
AN UMPIRES WHISTLE SHALL:-
1. Start and stop the game.
2. Signal the end of each half of the game.
3. Restart the game after an interval.
4. Signal when an infringement is penalized.
5. Signal when a goal is scored.
CAPTAINS
1. The captains will toss a coin and the winners either has 1st centre pass or chooses 1st shooting end. At half time the opposing team will take the centre pass. After a goal is scored the ball must return to the centre circle for a centre pass.
2. Game starts when centre stands into centre circle.
3. The game is for single sex competition.
4. There shall be 7 players and 3 substitutes.
5. Substitutions can only be made at the end of the periods of play.
6. 1 point will be awarded for every goal scored within the goal circle when the shot goes through the ring.
BLOOD RULE
1. An umpire is required to hold time when a player who is bleeding is noticed and no on Court player has called time.
2. To stop play the Umpire shall blow the whistle and signal to hold time
3. The Umpire shall decide the length of time for the stoppage and shall ensure that play is restarted as soon as possible.
4. The wound must be adequately covered
5. Blood stained clothing shall be removed or cleaned
6. The ball and the Court shall be cleaned if necessary
7. To restart play the Umpire shall blow the whistle for play to be resumed.
EMERGENCIES
1. An Umpire may stop play for any extraordinary circumstance which may be deemed an emergency.
2. The Umpire shall decide the length of time for the stoppage.
OUT OF COURT
1. The ball is out of court when:-
2. It touches the ground outside the Court
3. It touches an object or person in contact with the ground outside the Court
4. It is held by a player in contact with the ground an object or person outside the Court.
A PLAYER MAY NOT:
1. Strike the ball with a fist;
2. Fall on the ball to gain possession;
3. Attempt to gain possession of the ball while lying, sitting or kneeling on the ground;
4. Throw the ball while lying, sitting or kneeling on the ground;
5. USE THE GOALPOST:
6. As a means of regaining balance ; or
7. As a support in recovering the ball going out of court; or
8. In any other way for any other purpose, which does not include the ball rebounding from the goalpost
9. Deliberately kick the ball.
FREE PASS TO THE OPPOSING TEAM WHERE THE INFRINGEMENT OCCURRED.
1. A player who has caught or held the ball shall play it or shoot for goal within four (4) seconds. To play the ball a player may;
2. Throw it in any manner and in any direction to another player;
3. Bounce it with one or both hands in any direction to another player.
4. A PLAYER WHO HAS CAUGHT OR HELD THE BALL MAY NOT:-
5. Roll the ball to another player;
6. Throw the ball and play it before it has been touched by another player;
7. Toss the ball into the air and replay it;
8. Drop the ball and replay it;
9. Bounce the ball and replay it;
10. Replay the ball after an unsuccessful shot at goal unless it has touched some part of the goalpost.
11. FREE PASS TO THE OPPOSING TEAM WHERE THE INFRINGEMENT OCCURRED.
12. If two (2) opposing players gain possession of the ball in quick succession, the Umpire shall call Possession and indicate the player who first caught the ball. Play shall continue with this player in possession of the ball.
13. A goal is scored when the ball is thrown or batted over and completely through the ring.
14. If the whistle for an interval or ‘time’ is blown before the ball has passed completely through the ring no goal is scored.
15. If the whistle for an interval or ‘time’ is blown after a penalty pass/shot has been awarded, the penalty pass/shot shall be taken
16. IN TAKING A SHOT FOR GOAL A PLAYER SHALL:-
17. Shoot within four (4) seconds of catching or holding the ball and obey the footwork rule.
OBSTRUCTION
1. An attempt to intercept the ball may be made by a defending player if the distance on the ground is not less than (3 feet) from the player in possession of the ball.
FOOTWORK
1. Is when the player has taken their landing foot off the ground and put it back on the ground, OR, has hopped on or dragged landed foot?
2. FREE PASS TO THE OPPOSING TEAM WHERE THE INFRINGEMENT OCCURRED.
CONTACT: - no player should contact an opponent, either accidentally or deliberately.
1. A player cannot move into an opponents landing space.
2. Player cannot position themselves so closely to an opponent that the player is unable to move without contacting.
3. A player cannot push, trip or hold an opponent.
4. A player cannot place hands, knock or remove a ball held by an opponent.
5. While holding the ball a player cannot push it into an opponent.
6. If two opposing players simultaneously contact a toss up results
PENALTIES/AWARDING PENALTIES
1. During the game the Umpire may award the following penalties unless the Advantage Rule applies.
2. Free Pass
3. Penalty Pass
4. Penalty Pass/Shot
5. Throw In back
6. Toss Up
7. In addition, the Umpire may decide on any matter not covered by the Rule or not in the spirit of the game.
TOSS UP
1. A Toss Up is taken when:-
2. Opposing players gain simultaneous possession of the ball with either or both hands.
DISCIPLINE
RESPONSIBILITIES OF PLAYERS.
Breaking the Rules and /or employment of any action not covered by the wording of the Rules, in a manner contrary to the spirit of the game, is not permitted. This may include persistent infringing of one rule or of several rules in combination.
MISCONDUCT PENALTIES.
If a player is given a yellow card they must leave the court for a duration of 3 goals before re-entering. They cannot be replaced during this time.
If a player is given a red card they must leave the court for the remainder of the game. They cannot be replaced.
MISCONDUCT GUIDELINES FOR PLAYERS
Please do not forget that all leagues are SOCIAL LEAGUES. Abuse towards other players or the umpire will not be tolerated so please respect each other. The above penalties will be imposed for any abuse.
There may be occasions where you will disagree with an umpire decision, but please note that the umpire’s decision is FINAL.
